Before we start I just want to warn you that these ribs are so darn tasty that you may get a rib addition. I believe my marinade is completely unique and that you’ll have never tasted ribs so good. This marinade has both Jack Daniels and Dr Pepper in it which may sound a little weird but the result is out of this world, you just MUST try it. You’re probably here to make it anyway so i’ll get to the point now…

Ingredients you will need

For 1 rack of ribs you will need:

1 rack of ribs

I’ve got those ingredients, what do I need to do?

You may have noticed from the ingredients, that not only my marinade is unusual but the technique, we’ve got three stages of flavour, the first with the marinade, the second with the rub and then lastly with the sauce – these ribs have so much flavour!

To start with we need to create our marinade as we’re going to want to marinade this for at least 2 hours, I marinaded mine for 5 hours while I was out.

First add all the ingredients for the marinade into a mixing bowl and mix well, afterwards pour it over the top of the ribs and then turn it round and pour the rest into the curvature of the upside down ribs. I poured mine into the packing of the ribs itself as it was suitable, but you can do this in a tupperware or bowl.

Place the ribs in the fridge for at least 2 hours, when it’s time create a rub using 2 table spoons of brown sugar, 2 table spoons of salt and 2 table spoons of smoked paprika. Lift the ribs out of the container and lightly shake to let any remaining marinade drip off and place the ribs on a plate. Do not chuck away the marinade we will need this later! Now the ribs are on a plate rub the rub into the top side of the ribs. Once done place on a baking tray and place in the oven at 200 degrees C.

After cooking for 30 minutes turn the heat down to 150 degress C, after another 30 minutes take it out the oven and flip the ribs and put back in the oven.

After another 30 minutes take it out again and flip it around again, now mix 1/4 cup of ketchup with 4 table spoons of the marinade, mix well then pour on top of the ribs before cooking for the final 30 minutes.

And that’s it we’re ready to enjoy!

Yum
