I am a huge coffee lover, I buy good quality beans and always have freshly ground coffee, however I do enjoy festive and seasonal coffees as well using coffee syrups. I own many Monin and Tate & Lyle coffee syrups but they’re not cheap (usually between £10-£15 for a 750ml to 1L bottle). So I decided I’d have a go at making a salted caramel coffee syrup and it was pretty easy to do.
What ingredients do I need?
I have made enough for around 6-8 coffees (maybe less if you have a really sweet tooth!). So the quantities below are for that amount.
3/4 of a cup of water
3/4 of a cup of caster sugar
1/2 a cup of brown sugar
2 table spoons of honey
2 heaped table spoons of salt.
What do I need to do?
Start by adding the caster sugar, salt, honey and water to a sauce pan and boil at a medium heat, keep stirring until all the caster sugar is completely melted. At this point add the brown sugar.
Now just keep stirring until until that is all melted and mixed, and that’s it you’re ready to put in your coffee!
